Welcome back to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is the Match Review of Villareal vs FC Barcelona. The Blaugranas went away to face Villareal after winning convincingly against Getafe in the La Liga competition. The team had to win this game to make it to the 2nd spot on the La Liga points table. Both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid dropped points in their previous fixtures, and the Blaugranas had to take advantage of that.
We were expecting Villarreal to give a pretty tough challenge to FC Barcelona. However, Ronald Koemann’s men showed why they are considered the most in-form team in La Liga this season. FC Barcelona won 1-2 against Villarreal. Although Ronald Koemann’s side did not put in one of the best performances of the season, they’ll still claim the 3 points they won from this game.
FC Barcelona now needs to win all remaining six games in La Liga to win the competition. Sounds tough, but we all know that this team has the potential to pull it off.
VILLAREAL VS FC BARCELONA MATCH REVIEW
In a nutshell, Villareal played better football than FC Barcelona. They opened the game strongly and kept FC Barcelona on the back foot for the entire game. Villareal was also the first team to get on the scoring sheet. However, the away side responded strongly as well. Antoine Griezmann equalized the score for FC Barcelona and that was one of the best goals one could ever see.
As a matter of fact, Antoine Griezmann scored the winning goal too. He was all over the place. However, his team showed inconsistency. One moment, FC Barcelona used to be in the driving seat, but the next moment everything used to under Villarreal’s control. Still, Koemann’s side showed that they knew how to handle pressure, and how to get 3 points from a game even when they were unable to perform at their best.
FC Barcelona needs to approach the upcoming games in a similar fashion as they did against Getafe or Athletic Bilbao and La Liga is going to be theirs.
