Welcome back to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is the Match Preview of Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona. In this Match Preview, we are going to discuss everything about this upcoming El Classico game. This is the game we look forward to every season. This is biggest rivalry in club football. Real Madrid vs Barcelona is going to be a treat to watch. As we all know that Barcelona is going to go away from home to face the strong side of Zinedine Zidane. However, I don’t think this away tie is going to affect our mindset. We’re winning this.
If you take a look at the points table, you can clearly see that FC Barcelona is at the top of the table with 2 points lead from Real Madrid. This tells you that the game is really crucial, and important for us. Real Madrid did drop points courtesy of a defeat against Levante. However, if Barcelona doesnot win here, we are going back to 2nd place. This is something that we really donot want to happen as winning La Liga is must for us this season. La Liga title is going to mean so much to the Barcelona fans.
La Liga title is also going to give a huge confidence boost to Quique Setien, who is gradually settling to our club. Therefore, we must go all out, and do everything in our possibilities to win the game. Rodrygo, Asensio, and Luka Jovic are going to be unavailable for Real Madrid. On the other side, Ousmane Dembele, and Luis Suarez are surely going to miss this action. However, we have heard that Jordi Alba is back, and is possibly going to participate in the Classico. I am really looking forward to it. I am excited guys. How are you feeling?
REAL MADRID VS FC BARCELONA MATCH PREVIEW
Let’s just talk about the bad condition of Real Madrid. They are certainly lacking the momentum. They are not in the finest of forms. This is what we need to take advantage of. We need to make sure we hit them where it hurts the most. If you take a closer look, Real Madrid’s attack has not been the greatest during the entire season. They mostly depend up on their full backs and center backs to get them the points. Their attackers have been out of form, and not in the right zone.
Their recent results also show that they are going to be under a huge pressure heading into this game. Real Madrid lost to Levante in their previous La Liga outing. After that, they were treated really badly by Man City, at their own home turf. These kinds of results mentally shake the players, and the managers as well. The bad days are increasing for the Madrid giants, and we need to make sure that we give them yet another beating. We badly need to win this game if we want to keep our hopes alive into this competition.
A draw in the Bernabeau is still going to keep us at the top of the points table. However, the fans only want one thing out of this Classico. It is a victory. If you consider our previous meetings with Real Madrid at the Bernabeau, you can certainly see that Barcelona is really dominant. Bernabeau is like our second home ground, as we often joke about it. We need to show that our feet can speak better than our mouths. Zinedine Zidane Is definitely going to feel the pressure. He has a lot to prove stepping into this game, and the 2nd Man City leg.
QUIQUE SETIEN AND SARABIA MEETING GUARDIOLA
It is not only Zinedine Zidane who has to prove to his fans that he is the best manager in Spain. Quique Setien has a huge responsibility on his shoulders as well. We know that Valverde was a really composed guy when it came to the El Classico. He always had his plans, and they really worked especially in the Santiago Bernabeau. However, Quique needs to show that yes, he is better than Zidane any day. We can also see that Quique is actually really serious about this upcoming Classico game.
This is evident by the fact that he, alongside his assistant, Sarabia went to watch the Real vs City Champions League game. Yes, Quique was there in the Bernabeau to watch what City did to Real. I am expecting that Barcelona is going to replicate some moments from that game. Furthermore, I also know that Quique was there not because he just wanted to see the game, but because he had a plan. I am really looking forward to how Quique manages things for this game. We saw that Quique, and his manager went to meet Guardiola later on.
Yes, it really happened. Quique Setien met Guardiola after the Champions League game, and certainly they must have talked about football. We as, Barcelona fans admire the genius of Guardiola a lot. Quique must have talked to him about the upcoming El Classico game, and also our Champions League campaign. Guys, it is all set, and ready for this great encounter. I wish I was there, or I could somehow hear what those two talked about. It isn’t possible for sure. However, it is really possible that we come to know about their conversation by the way our Barca boys play at the Santiago.
CLASSICO IS NOT THE LA LIGA DECIDER
We, as fans are thinking that the result of Classico in our favor is going to take us through the La Liga title. However, our manager Quique Setien did not agree to this. He said in his press conference that he doesnot think Real Madrid to be affected or even bothered by their bad form. He also said that a win at the Bernabeau would still not guarantee a La Liga title win. Quique is definitely taking this game really seriously. However, this speech has made clear that he is thinking about the long term.
This is exactly the kind of attitude you need from any manager. Even if you have all your plans set up, and homework done, you must not blabber about it. Being silent, and letting your football do the talking is the best policy in football. I would also like to mention about the Real Madrid Goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois over here. Courtois said that he was certainly not worried about facing Barcelona or Lionel Messi. He specifically targeted Messi, and said that he would take him normally like a simple opposition as such Levante or Celta Vigo.
This is so funny because Real Madrid recently lost to Levante at their home. They drew against Celta Vigo. This guy is making a joke out of himself. Ok, I’ll talk about Lionel Messi as well. Messi has scored against Thibaut so many times, that I think even Messi cannot count. Also, what about the times when Messi scored through the legs of Thibaut Courtois? Guys, I am not spreading any hate or claiming big about anyone. All I am saying is that these big words come back to haunt you, and we should always let football do the talking.
REAL MADRID VS BARCELONA EXPECTED LINEUP
I expect Quique Setien to start with a 4-4-2 formation. Ter Stegen is obviously going to start in goal. Considering the facts, and figures, Ter Stegen has been so good in this season. We want him to shine once again in another big game. Hopefully, he is not going to disappoint us. Furthermore, Jordi Alba is also back in the squad. However, I doubt if he is going to start or not. Junior Firpo might start at his place, and he might come in later on. However, Jordi seems to be the starter to me.
This is because Firpo was not in the best of form in the Champions League game. I think that performances against Napoli are going to count a lot up on who starts the game. Therefore, I think that Quique is going to continue with Umtiti, and Pique as Center Backs. Semedo is going to operate as the Right Back. I also expect to see a dense midfield simply because of the fact that Quique likes to dominate the midfield, and this is also where we have the majority of options. I expect all our best players to start together.
These include, Sergio Busquests, De Jong, Arthur, and Vidal. Rakitic is also very experienced when it comes to the El Classico. However, I would still pick Vidal to start things in the midfield. We are in for a fight at the Bernabeau, and that is why we need to start with a fighter like Vidal. Messi, and Griezmann can lead our front line as Centre Forwards. Messi is obviously going to drop deep, and play as a false 9. On the other side, Griezmann is going to stay higher up on the pitch, and try to make those vital runs.
An El Classico is always a special game. Real Madrid vs Barcelona is always really unpredictable, and nothing can be said about the score. Therefore, I am leaving it here for you to guess. All I want from this game is that we win, and we see a really entertaining game.
