According to ESPN, who are often very reliable when it comes to these matters, Bartomeu has decided to Sack Pep Segura from his position as a General Manager. Luckily, the decision of the President seems to be final. They go as far as to say that the Cules can expect the official announcement in a matter of hours, which is really exciting for me as a fan.
I don’t really have anything personal against him; I just believe that he is not the right man for the job, and I don’t agree with what he stands for. This seems to be another step forward in the right direction after the appointment of Victor Valdes as the head coach of the U19 team.
I usually don’t agree with the decisions of our President, but we are on the same page when it comes to this decision. I genuinely feel like this decision was long overdue and should have happened months ago, or possibly a season ago, or maybe he shouldn’t have been appointed in the first place.
Return Of Patrick Kluivert:
The cherry on ice is that the good news does not end here. ESPN has another big surprise for us. ESPN also mentioned that the Former Barcelona Legend, Patrick Kluivert, is set to return to the Camp Nou but haven’t disclosed his role yet as there isn’t any official announcement. However, It’s believed that he is going to be the head of the La Masia.
It is believed that he would be overseeing the work done at the La Masia and the youth teams. He is going to monitor the progress of the young prospects and have them play in the Barcelona way that we all love. Personally, I am very excited about this news. He is club legend who know the roots of the club and understands the system.
Eric Abidal’s Increased Authority:
The fun does not end just here; ESPN has another good news to make our day. Basically, ESPN said that Eric Abidal, who is our Sporting Director, will be given even more power in his role which is really amazing at least for me. I believe, he is somebody who understands the club and has a good idea of modern Football.
If we analyze Abidal’s time here as a Sporting Director, we would all agree that he has done a terrific job. However, I always felt that Abidal had limited authority alongside Pep Segura. It’s because he interfered way too much in Abidal’s decisions. Giving more authority to Abidal in his current role as a Sporting Director would be great, but that can only happen if FC Barcelona sack Pep Segura, which seems to be the case.
Why Barca Must Sack Pep Segura?
For me, I believe Segura has destroyed the Philosophy of Barcelona; every decision he made was against our traditional system. He always went for players with physicality, and do I need to tell you that’s never have been Barca’s way. We have had enough of Pep Segura Bartomeu must sack him right away.
Impact of Changes In The Board:
If we analyze the movement of the FCB Board, we would see that we are really heading towards a better future. I have always believed that every member of the Board should have throughout knowledge of the Club and its Philosophy. Seeing the Ex Barca Players returning to the club and using all their wisdom certainly looks like the Dawn Of A New Era. I mean, that’s exactly what we have been lacking since The Great Johan Cruyff.
Just to clear it out, I am not a fan of our current board, especially, I don’t support Bartomeu and Co. Nevertheless, I would support this restructuring with all my heart because that’s definitely one of the right steps or the only right step by our board in years.
La Masia used to be the greatest academy in the world, and we used to produce gems. However, in the past decade or so, we haven’t seen a real top talent shining in Blaugrana colors except for a few players including Carles Aleñá and Riqui Puig who still have to prove their worth. The only reason for such a downfall is ignorance. Barca Academy has been neglected for far too long. It’s time, we bring in some reforms to reach the past Glory.
Verdict:
I am really excited about the changes being made in the Barcelona Board. Sacking Pep Segura is the start and I hope the rest of the good announcements to follow. In the end, we fans want our club to be the greatest in the world, and these changes are likely to set us on the right path. That was all for today, I will come up with more articles in a short time. Meanwhile, I would love to hear your thoughts on this one and would really appreciate your participation. Visca el Barca!
