Welcome back to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is the Match Preview of Juventus vs Barcelona. The Champions League is back and Barcelona is up to face their toughest group stage opponent of this season. The Catalonia boys are in Italy to face a lethal side of Juventus. Barcelona is coming off a humiliating defeat against Real Madrid in La Liga. Can the boys from Spain win against the giants in Turin?
JUVENTUS VS BARCELONA MATCH PREVIEW
The Champions League started with both teams, Barcelona and Juventus facing the underdogs of their group. Both teams won comfortably and now they have to feel each other. Both teams have some major absentees. The major problem lies in the defensive area for Juventus. Both, De Light and Chiellini are going to miss this game due to injuries. Leonardo Bonucci is also a doubt to participate in this game as he was taken off midway during the game against Hallas Verona. Alex Sandro is also unavailable for Juventus.
The biggest issue for Juventus is that they have to play this game without the big man, Cristiano Ronaldo. Cris has tested positive for the coronavirus for the third time and it is not confirmed about how long he is going to stay out.
FC Barcelona also has issues of its own. Gerrard Pique is going to miss the game due to suspension. Gerrard picked up a red card against Ferencvaros which not only gave a penalty to them but also took his name off the squad list for this game. Furthermore, Coutinho is also going to miss the game. Therefore, both teams are heading into this game without their full squad. Barcelona is still at an advantage as their team issues are not as worse as Juventus. However, the defense on both sides is equally vulnerable.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM BARCELONA?
Ronald Koemann needs to make a statement in this game. We know this and so does he. Ronald has not impressed anyone in any of the big games he has played until now. He has set a strange pattern of throwing in a bunch of attackers, or midfielders at unusual moments. However, every day is a new day and we expect Ronald to learn from his mistakes. It is easier to grab a win from this vulnerable Juve team instead of waiting for the other game when Juventus is probably going to visit Barcelona with a proper team.
Therefore, Barcelona must come up with a proper and complete plan. Antoine might get a starting spot in this game. However, Ronald still might prefer Pedri. Anyone from Trinocao or Dembele can start on the right-wing whereas; Ansu can back to his preferred spot on the Left-wing. We can also see Pjanic featuring against his former side because Sergio Busquests is not in fine form lately.
The fans are also hoping for Lionel Messi to sparkle his magic in this game. He is certainly not underperforming lately, but deep down everyone misses the kind of impact Messi used to have on every game.
Juventus vs Barcelona is one of the most awaited games of the season. Juventus has won 7 out of their 8 Champions League games. Juventus also remains unbeaten in all competitions this season. However, another fact is that Barcelona is unbeaten in four out of their five games against Juventus.
Barcelona is surely the favorite team to win this game. TalkBarca is predicting a 0-2 or 1-2 win for FC Barcelona in Turin. Ronald Koemann should really look to exploit Juve’s weakness and play on his strengths. Let’s wait and see.
