Manchester City has officially announced that Sergio Aguero is going to leave the club at the end of the season. The Argentinean International’s departure from the club means that many clubs are going to pursue to sign him. Aguero is such an experienced contender, an amazing goal scorer, and still able to perform at the top level. Who would not want to sign him?
FC Barcelona is heavily linked to Sergio Aguero’s signing. However, other clubs such as PSG and Juventus are also likely to be in the race. FC Barcelona’s prime target is undoubtedly Erling Halaand. Joan Laporta, the newly elected president at the Catalans club also created hype about Halaand’s arrival to the Camp Nou. However, the club is in a heavy financial crisis at the moment, and bringing Halaand this summer seems very unlikely. Even if the club manages to bring him in, they would have to sell a lot of big names playing at the club already. Therefore, FC Barcelona can surely shift its focus to singing Sergio Aguero instead.
Aguero is experienced, a guaranteed goal scorer and the best part is that he knows how things work in La Liga because he has represented Atletico Madrid earlier in his career.
Welcome back to TalkBarca, guys. We are going to talk about the possibility of Sergio Aguero’s arrival at the Camp Nou and whether or not it is going to be beneficial for the club.
IS SERGIO AGUERO THE RIGHT OPTION FOR FC BARCELONA?
According to a few reports, Sergio Aguero is interested himself to join FC Barcelona this season. Reports claimed that Aguero wants to join his International teammate, Lionel Messi. Even though the deal is going to be pretty budget-friendly for Joan Laporta and his co, there is still a lot of things to consider. Aguero is almost 33 years of age and way past his prime years. Football is getting competitive year after year and the competition keeps on increasing. Other than that, FC Barcelona already has a lot of options in the attack namely Griezmann, Braithwaite, Messi, and Dembele. It is going to be interesting how the manager makes a place for Sergio Aguero. Is he going to sell either one of Martin, Griezmann, or Dembele? Or what is he going to do about it?
Another major concern is that Aguero has had an injury record as well. Aguero is above 32 years of age. Therefore he is also going to be more vulnerable to injuries. Even this season, Aguero spent a lot of time without any football action due to his injury. Therefore, bringing him in can be a bit risky for the club. Aguero is not going to take a light salary package. Therefore, if he is mostly injured and still taking in huge weekly wages, what benefit would that bring to the club?
However, there is not everything negative about this deal.
Few facts that are never going to change is that Sergio Aguero is a lethal goal scorer and has the ability to turn any game around at any points. Moreover, Aguero has an amazing relationship with Lionel Messi on and off the pitch. Both players are part of the same International team, but they also share an amazing friendship bond outside the pitch as well. Therefore, this chemistry can prove to be very beneficial for the Catalan club.
FC Barcelona needs to be very careful in either chasing for Aguero’s signature or declining it. There are pros and cons and therefore, it is going to be tough thinking about what to do about this deal. However, one thing for sure is that FC Barcelona needs to put an end to all the attacking problems within or before the next season so that the team can chase the European title.
There are many rumors about Memphis Depay coming to FC Barcelona as well. Ronald Koemann is going to prefer Depay over Aguero any day any time. The only condition is that Depay wants to come to Barcelona himself and that the club has all the wages and fees to pay for him.
This is going to be an interesting summer transfer market. Stay tuned for more details.
