Welcome back to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is the Match Review between Getafe vs FC Barcelona. Barcelona went away to face the tough side of Getafe and came back with a disappointing result. Ronald Koemann’s men failed to deliver away from home, and the match ended as 1-0 loss to Barca.
The players were expected to be more confident and play more freely after performing quite well in the International Break. However, FC Barcelona once again struggled to convert chances. The players were not very lethal in the final third, and Getafe was able to pocket every Barca attacker.
GETAFE VS FC BARCELONA MATCH REVIEW
FC Barcelona looked at the beginning of the game. The players looked very fresh even though the majority of them came from International Duty. Everyone had a feeling that they were in there to play good football. However, it did not exactly happen. Ousmane Dembele started ahead of Ansu Fati. A lot was expected from the young Frenchman. However, Dembele was not very confident. He lost the ball many times in the first half. Furthermore, he was not as threatening to the opposition defense which made things easier for Getafe.
Antoine wasted a good chance in the first half. He should have put that one away. Furthermore, Lionel Messi also hit the post after a good back pass from Sergino Dest. Dest filled in the place for Jordi Alba who was out due to injury. Dest had a good game and was very much involved in the plays. Once again, Barca dominated with the ball but failed to do anything significant in front of the goal.
The first half ended 0-0
The Second Half was worse than the first one. FC Barcelona played on the back-foot and did not even dominate much with the ball. Barcelona failed to create any significant chance whereas, Getafe came with full force. Getafe had no trouble playing dirty or aggressive football. They wanted to get the result and eventually succeeded.
Frenkie De Jong fouled Getafe’s Djene inside the box which leads to a penalty. Therefore, Getafe was able to take the lead. Getafe pressed even faster and harder after taking the lead. No one from FC Barcelona was enough to somehow sneak through Getafe’s defense. Antoine failed to shine once again. Dembele and Pedri were subbed off for Fati and Countinho. However, Antoine should be the one sent off in place of Pedri.
Lionel Messi did attempt to score a goal later in the second half. However, his effort went wide and a loss for the Blaugranas was then confirmed.
The match ended in favor of Getafe 1-0.
CONCLUSION
This is it from the Match Review. FC Barcelona needs to get back on the right track because the Champions League fixture is right around the corner. Furthermore, the El Classico is pretty near as well. Therefore, Barca cannot afford any other slip up before these crucial games.
A plus point for the club and the fans is that Real Madrid also lost their game against Cadiz earlier in the day.
