Welcome back to TalkBarca and today we are going to take a peek at Getafe vs Barcelona Match Preview. It’s another away fixture for the Blaugranas which means it’s another sign of worry. At home, we deliver great performances. However, Barcelona is struggling to get vital points away from home. We must overcome this away Delima as we have a lot of away games coming up. Points from these games are extremely necessary if we want to win the league.
Coming to the points table, Getafe stands at 10th position with 7 points. Barcelona is now in 5th place with 10 points courtesy of a good win against Villareal. However, Getafe is not a side to be judged on their position on the table. They are young and they certainly have talent. Their manager is pretty good and they know that they have the potential to outclass us on their home.
GETAFE VS BARCELONA MATCH PREVIEW:
Getafe vs Barcelona can be a tricky away fixture. Therefore, our players need to be very confident and our lineup, perfectly. Most importantly, Valverde has to set his tactics right and opt for an offensive style of play. So, without any delay, let’s have a start our Match Preview.
Kick-Off Timings:
Getafe vs Barcelona is scheduled on 28th September and the kick off will take place at 4 PM as per local time at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez Stadium. You can look at the image below and check the timings for your respective country.
Squad For Getafe vs Barcelona:
Here is the full squad for our upcoming fixture against Getafe:
Goalkeepers: Ter Stegen and Neto.
Defenders: Semedo, Lenglet, Pique, Junior Firpo, Wague, and Todibo.
Midfielders: Sergio, Arthur, De Jong, Vidal, Alena, Rakitic, and Roberto,
Forwards: Griezmann, Suarez, Dembele, and Carlos Perez.
Players Not Included in the squad: Jordi Alba, Lionel Messi, Ansu Fati and Samuel Umtiti miss out the fixture because of injury issues. Ansu Fati has a tendon problem in his right knee and will miss Saturday’s game at Getafe.
EXPECTED LINEUP:
Goalkeeper:
Ter Stegen is expected to start in goal. MATS has also been called to start for the German National team. This shows how well he is performing nowadays and how good of a goalkeeper he is.
Center Backs:
Pique and Lenglet duo is likely to start in this fixture. Lenglet is getting a lot of game time and he is showing good progress. Lenglet now plays a lot better than he used to play at the start of the season. Pique is also performing well. However, he needs to have control over his aggression as he is picking up a lot of bookings in crucial matches.
Left Back and Right Back:
Junior Firpo delivered a punch against Villarreal which makes his spot on the left back position, firm. Junior is a player who came to Barca squad with a good reputation and everyone in the club knows that he has enormous potential. He just has to keep showing good performances to slowly but surely take the secure his place as a starter.
On the other side, we expect Semedo to start at the right back slot. Semedo is also getting his form back and it is great to see him improve his game and raise his standards in a short span of time. Semedo has a more defensive mindset which is necessary because at least one of our full-backs needs to be a little bit conservative so that we don’t crumble on counter attacks.
Midfielders:
Sergio Busquests is expected to start as our defensive midfielder. In the last outing, Sergio’s performance was classy and dominating. This is the form he needs to carry throughout the season. Arthur Melo is the likely starter at Left mid. He was one of the best performers in the previous fixture and needs to be our regular starter.
De Jong without a doubt needs to start at the right side of the midfield. We know how good he is and what he brings to this team. Furthermore, De Jong and Arthur as a duo is very deadly. They complement each other’s game and also brings the best out of Busquets. If we play with this midfield, we have the perfect attacking and defensive balance with maximum control.
Wingers:
Ousmane Dembele is back in the squad and this can make our attack very lethal. I expect Dembele to start on the right wing since Lionel Messi is out injured. On the left side, Carlos Perez should start the game since Ansu Fati is going to miss this game due to an injury. However, we may still see Griemann on the left side which would not be as disastrous.
It’s simple because Griezmann likes to play in central areas. With Ousmane Dembele on the right wing as a wide player, and Junior Firpo attacking from the left, Griezmann would get the chance to come central. The real problem of Griezmann playing on the wing is when we have Messi on the right side. It’s because both of them like to play central and doing so will leave a huge space for the opposition full backs to exploit.
Striker:
Up front, Griezmann is the likely starter. He must start games in his preferable position so that he can put the impact that we all want. Playing him out of position just seems to lower his morale and this is something we don’t want from our big-money signing to go through. However, given our current injury situations, we may see Suarez starting as a striker, Griezmann on the left wing and Dembele on the right wing.
The Bench:
The bench is pretty strong for Barcelona. We have Luis Suarez who can come late in the game and put a big influence on it. Roberto would also be there as a utility player who can come and play in any position if needed. In the midfield, Arturo Vidal’s will also be there on the bench who can come late in the game and outmuscle the opposition players. Furthermore, Raktic, Todibo, Neto, and Alena would also be there on the bench and maybe subbed in later in the game if needed.
Score Prediction:
I think this game is very positive for us. We have the momentum and the right players. All we need is to execute our plans at the right time. I think Barcelona is winning this with more than 2 goals.
On the other side, we have the Madrid derby coming up. There is a chance that our rivals, Real Madrid drop points or both Madrid teams share points with a draw. Currently, Real is at the top position with 4 points more than us. This is not what we want. We must win this game and get the vital 3 points to reduce the deficit.
