Welcome back to TalkBarca. As promised, we are here with the Match Review of FC Cartagena vs Barcelona. Barcelona won the friendly encounter with a 0-2 scoreline. This was an away fixture and the result shows positivity and proves that Barca’s future is in safe hands. Furthermore, we didn’t concede any goal which means that we can potentially solve our defensive issues within our academy players in the future.
Talking about the defense, yes, I do believe that our academy has 50% solutions to our defensive problems. The remaining 50% depends on the experience which currently none of these players have. Buying a player playing actively for a club is automatically going to be more experienced than any academy player. Therefore, a player from the market is more pivotal to our defensive crisis at the moment. However, I still believe that it’s time for Valverde to start introducing fresh blood into La Liga games. So, without any delay, let’s start our Match Review!
FC Cartagena vs Barcelona – Match Review
Let’s take a look at the starting lineup.
Neto started in goal. Overall, a good outing for our backup goalkeeper. Neto was able to keep a clean sheet. This is a good confidence boost not only for him but, for the defenders as well. This is a good sign as we would be secure even if Ter Stegen faces an injury during the course of the season. To be honest, I believe Neto has the quality to start for any big club. It’s just that MATS is miles ahead of any regular goalkeeper and has the traits of a leader in the back. Ter Stegen is currently at his peak in terms of form and fitness. Therefore, what Neto has to do is put his maximum effort to raise his level and be prepared when the right opportunity knocks on his door.
Junior Firpo and Morer Cabrera started on the Left and Right Back respectively. Junior played his natural pacy game and performed quite well as the Left Back. He also connected with Saverio who was playing as the Left Winger. Furthermore, Junior Firpo made good passes, had good touches on the ball and had good involvement in the game.
On the other side, Cabrera also had a decent outing. However, he needs more confidence. Cabrera needs more exposure to be more visible and more involved in games.
Center Backs in the game were Gerrard Pique and Araujo. We saw that Araujo was taking instructions from Pique while Araujo himself made a few really good passing decisions. I think this game is very beneficial for Araujo because surely, he learned a thing or two.
Our midfield also impressed. As a matter of fact, we dominated the opposition as we wanted to. Our midfield had Alena on the left, Puig as the Center Mid and Roberto as the Right mid. We dominated and controlled the game right from the kick off to the final whistle. There were some moments in which the passing rhythm really got going. Furthermore, our midfielders supplied great balls to the attackers and overall, had a great outing.
Saverio and Perez were the two wingers. Surprisingly, Dembele was used out of position. Out of these two, I am really impressed by Saverio. Although Perez got a goal and also had a really good performance, I am actually surprised by how confident Saverio is. Saverio was not afraid to run at the defenders and take them on in one-on-one situations. Furthermore, his crossing ability is also very fine. Saverio moved in the game like a main pivotal player of ours and he did trouble the opposition more than a few times. This kind of energy and performance is really positive for our club.
Ousmane Dembele played as the Central Striker. Dembele kept the opposition defenders on their toes for the entire time. Dembele showed how classy he can be with the ball at his feet. He also ended up as the Man of the match and no doubt, he deserves to be.
Before I move onto the best players, I would also like to mention that there was a lot of rotation in this lineup. Valverde made a lot of substitutions and gave everyone a decent amount of chance to play the game. In total, there were 10 substitutions. This is also positive as everyone got a chance to prove their worth.
BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
Saverio had a great outing. As I mentioned above, his confidence level was very high. Also, his passing ability, crossing rate, and physical abilities look really good. He wasn’t shy to take on defenders and create goal-scoring chances. Therefore, to me, he was one of the best performers in this game.
I just don’t have the words to praise Riqui Puig. Every time I see this young lad, he gives me a special kind of satisfaction with an assurance that our future is in safe hand. Puig was like the heart of Barcelona, he was in the center of everything. He controlled the game effectively and helped the attackers in the best possible way.
Anyway guys, this is it for the Match Review of FC Cartagena vs FC Barcelona. I hope you like it. Also, don’t rule out our academy players, they have a lot to offer. Let us know your feedback in the comments below and until next time, Visca El Barca!
