Welcome back to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is the Match Preview of FC Barcelona vs Valencia. FC Barcelona previously won against the table toppers, Real Sociedad. Ronald Koemann and his men are going to look to grab their 3rd consecutive win in La Liga as they host Valencia for their next encounter in the La Liga competition. Barca needs to win every game to enter into the top 4 and eventually make its way to be in the title race. Here is the Match Preview of the upcoming encounter against two very decent sides.
FC BARCELONA VS VALENCIA MATCH PREVIEW
FC Barcelona seems to be improving gradually. Ronald Koemann is looking more confident with every positive result. The boss is finally looking as if he is taking the situation under his control. However, any unfavorable result is going to take FC Barcelona back to page one and kill all the momentum. Therefore, results matter a lot for the Blaugranas at the moment. Playing proper football and dominating the opponents is not even the first priority of the team anymore. The team needs points to climb up the table and for that they need wins.
With that being said, FC Barcelona should focus first on grabbing the desired results no matter how they get it first and then focus on playing the kind of football they want to. Barcelona showed both, its strongest as well as its weakest sides when they previously faced the top of the table team, Real Sociedad. Therefore, it is pretty fair to say that the result Barca got against Real Sociedad has a lot of luck factor in it. The team won due to the goals scored by Jordi Alba and Frenkie De Jong. Other than that, some individual brilliance from Ronald Araujo, Oscar Mingueza, and Pedri played its part too.
However, luck is not always going to favor the Blaugranas. Therefore, Ronald Koemann needs to come up with a proper game plan. The boss must be aware of what moves are required in order to grab the results he wants in a convincing way. The major reason behind this is that FC Barcelona is yet to face the biggest teams of La Liga yet. Barca is going to face the top teams soon and the teams are going to be well aware of how to play against Catalunya’s.
Furthermore, FC Barcelona is also going to face PSG in the Champions League Round of 16. So if Barcelona does not start playing good football, luck is going to run out very soon. Still, this FC Barcelona team is going to take 3 points from every game no matter how they come.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM FC BARCELONA?
The most interesting thing about FC Barcelona now is how well the team has adapted to the 4-3-3 formation. This formation seems to suit the Bluagranas more than any other formation and Koemann did get 3 points when playing this way. Therefore, we can expect Koemann to keep things the way they are going unless he really wants to experiment with something new. Frenkie De Jong has a very major role in this formation. The former Ajax midfielder is given the box to box midfielder role in this formation which seems to suit him quite well. However, he can also play in the pivotal position which is known as the CDM.
However, Sergio Busquests is also expected to be a part of the starting lineup. Therefore, he is always going to be the first preference to play CDM. The defense is the most interesting part of FC Barcelona’s team right now. Jordi Alba is expected to start the game as he delivered a great performance against Real Sociedad. However, Junior Firpo is also likely to be a part of the squad. Sergio Roberto is injured. This means that Sergino Dest is pretty much confirmed to start at the Right Back. The most interesting part is still remaining though. Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza displayed a great Center Back duo in the previous La Liga encounter. Therefore, both of them deserve to start this game as well. However, Lenglet is very likely to be there in the lineup considering the kind of liking he has from Ronald Koemann.
Pedri can start things too considering his wonderful performance in the previous game. Lastly, Philippe Coutinho is also likely to be on the bench for this encounter.
FC Barcelona looks very strong on paper for this upcoming encounter against Valencia. The Blaugranas are also the favorites to win the game. However, the team must show proper character and Ronald Koemann must come up with a great game plan in order to display a show which the fans deserve to see.
Let’s see what happens in the game.
Stay tuned for the Match Review.
