Here is the Match Review of the game discussing the First Half and Second Half individually.
FC BARCELONA VS OSASUNA MATCH REVIEW
FIRST HALF
Ronald Koemann started with five offensive players in the lineup. The message was clear that Barca was playing to dominate the game and score as many as possible. The team certainly did a great job in attacking. Antoine Griezmann was very good right from the beginning. He even set up Philippe Coutinho with a great chance to score after dribbling past the goalkeeper. However, Coutinho’s effort was blocked by Unai Garcia. However, Barcelona seemed very determined to attack and maintain its offensive play.
Soon after that moment, Barca registered their first goal. It was Martin Brathwaite who was able to put the ball in the net with his knee. The keeper made a great save initially, but his save was rebounded in front of Martin who gave FC Barcelona a very deserving lead. The second goal was scored a few minutes later by Antoine Griezmann. Griezmann definitely showed his class after scoring a stunner out of the box. Grizzy struck the ball cleanly and it traveled to the back of the net like a rocket. The keeper was completely flat-footed and had no chance of stopping that whatsoever.
Barcelona played as a complete unit from front to the back. Oscar Mingueza played his second game for FC Barcelona A team. He was phenomenal and all the praises for him are well deserved. Ter Stegen was incredible as well. He was very confident as always and made double saves denying Osasuna’s only chance to score in the first half. Overall, FC Barcelona displayed a great display of football and ended the half on a very strong note.
FIRST HALF: FC BARCELONA 2-0 OSAUSNA
SECOND HALF
Barcelona started the second half very strongly. It seemed as if the entire unit was in the mood of playing good offensive football on the day. Barcelona maintained ball possession for the majority of the time. It was soon enough that a series of passes allowed Antoine Griezmann to find space to initiate an attack. He passed the ball to Philippe Coutinho who scored the third goal for FC Barcelona. Philippe last scored against Sevilla. Therefore, this goal is going to serve as a major confidence booster for him.
Barcelona continued to trouble the opposition making them beg for ball possession. However, it was not all rainbows for FC Barcelona. The team got struck with another injury. This time it was Clement Lenglet. A Center Back was probably the last person Barca wanted out inured. However, Koemann quickly brought Alena into the midfield and shifted Frenkie De Jong to the CB position. Koemann also made other substitutions namely Ousmane Dembele, Trincao, Firpo, and Busquests. All substituted players played a handy part and further took Barcelona to the win.
It was Lionel Messi who scored FC Barcelona’s fourth and the last goal for the day. Ousmane Dembele’s goal before that was disallowed. Anyway, Lionel Messi scored a brilliant goal firing a shot outside the box out of the keeper’s reach. Messi celebrated it in the most iconic way. He pulled out a Newell’s Old Boys shirt and raised his hand towards the sky paying tribute to the late Diego Maradona. Messi always regarded Diego as his teacher and idol and his tribute to him certainly showed that.
FULL TIME: FC BARCELONA 4-0 OSASUNA
CONCLUSION
Overall, it was a very solid and amazing performance from the Blaugranas. Osasuna was pretty bad as well. However, FC Barcelona showed great signs of positivity. Antoine Griezmann seems to be getting back in form and so does the entire team as a unit. Barcelona has scored 4 goals in two games back to back. Therefore, this shows that the team is certainly improving the attacking department.
Let’s see how this team progresses further in the league.
