FC BARCELONA VS GETAFE MATCH REVIEW
FIRST HALF
FC Barcelona headed into this game with a mentality to win. The boys were in the right frame of mind, and they attacked their opposition right from the first minute. With only 8 games remaining in the La Liga, this was the right attitude to go against Getafe. The Blaugranas were great overall. FC Barcelona got its first goal in the 8th minute. Lionel Messi scored that goal. However, the major credit goes to Sergio Busquests who played one of the sweetest through ball pass one could ever see. He set up Lionel Messi right in front of the goal, and the Argentinean finished it at the top corner.
However, FC Barcelona’s celebrations of getting the lead were short-lived as Getafe equalized. It was an own goal from Clement Lenglet. Angel’s header was going off target, but Lenglet deflected the ball inside the goal. If there’s any good thing to take away from this game it is going to be the mentality of these FC Barcelona players. Even though they did a mistake of an own goal, this did not lower their confidence. The boys kept attacking and got their second goal in the 23rd minute. It was an own goal from Getafe as well. Soria and Chakla could not understand each other. Therefore, Chakla kicked the ball inside his own neet unintentionally.
However, it was amazing overall gameplay from the home side which kept the opposition defenders on their toes pushing them to commit a mistake. Barcelona did not seem to stop. The players wanted more. Lionel Messi ended the first half in style after scoring one of the most spectacular goals of the season. Lionel tried scoring from a freekick. However, the ball did not go over the ball and rebounded back to Messi. He played a cheeky one-two pass with the goal post and easily passed the ball at the back of the net.
Ronald Koemann could not have asked for more from his team. The boys were very confident and played excellent football overall.
FIRST HALF: FC BARCELONA 3-1 GETAFE
SECOND HALF
The second half started passively. FC Barcelona had the majority of the ball, but they were slightly on the calmer side. Ronald Araujo gave away a penalty at the 68th minute as he stepped on Unal’s foot. Unal took the penalty for Getafe and converted it. The goal gave no benefit to the visiting side. FC Barcelona dominated the game, and FC Barcelona scored their 4th goal. Lionel Messi assisted Ronald Araujo who wonderfully connected a header, and scored past Getafe’s goalkeeper. FC Barcelona was all over the game. There was no way Getafe was coming back from this deficit. However, FC Barcelona wanted more. The players kept attacking in search of their fifth goal.
FC Barcelona won a penalty kick during the stoppage time. Lionel Messi, who was only one goal away from hattrick gave it to Antoine Griezmann. Griezmann not only converted the penalty, but the way he celebrated with Lionel Messi showed that this club is more than a football team. It was a classy gesture from Lionel Messi. He is indeed one of the best of all times.
Barca ended the game with all 3 points, and this game was a thriller for the fans.
