Welcome back to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is the Full Month Review of November for FC Barcelona. November was a tough month for our team. We had a few difficult fixtures. Our team wasn’t in perfect form. However, luck was on our side and we managed to win 4 out of our 6 games. Barcelona ended the month on top of the La Liga table and also the top of Champions League Group Table.
We started the month of November in the worst possible way. We lost our very first game of the month against Levante. Then, we drew against Slavia Prague in the Champions League. After that, we won the remaining 4 games. I wouldn’t say that all 4 of our victories were due to our team’s performance. We have been really lucky many times this season, and our good fortune saved us more than a couple of times this month as well. So, without any delay, let’s start our full month review of Barcelona and take a look at all the matches in November as well as their results.
BARCELONA NOVEMBER REVIEW
Levante vs Barcelona:
An away encounter against Leganes in La Liga was our first outing of the month. Barcelona was completely torn apart by Levante who ended up winning the match with a 3-1 scoreline. Barca seemed to lack any sort of desire to perform in this game. However, it was total opposite for Levante.
Levante played with hunger, and dedication. They wanted to keep attacking, keep winning balls, and keep initiating counter attacks. As a result, Levante was able to score 3 goals within 7 minutes of the second half. Barcelona’s only game came off from a penalty which was easily scored by Lionel Messi.
The best performer in this game was Griezmann according to me. Griezmann failed to score any goal, but, played with great desire. He made a lot of effort for the team. However, all his efforts went to waste because of poor tactics from the manager, and laziness from the team.
Things didn’t look well for FC Barcelona especially after starting the month with a defeat. The fans were rightfully triggered and the critics blamed us heavily. It was also a sign of worry for us as we had many difficult fixtures coming our way. Our next game was in the Champions League against Slavia Prague.
Barcelona vs Slavia Prague:
Barcelona invited Slavia Prague at the Camp Nou to host a night of the Champions League. However, Barcelona continued with poor performances, and the match resulted in a 0-0 draw. Barcelona was actually really lucky to draw against Slavia because once again, our desire to perform well was zero.
On the other hand, Slavia completely dominated us. The midfielders were totally absent, and the defenders were clueless about what was happening. I must say that the tactics Valverde came up with for this game were complete trash too. Griezmann was playing as a Left Winger whereas Messi was playing as false 9.
Ansu Fati was available on the bench. Despite his availability and the absence of Luis Suarez, Griezmann was not chosen to play as the striker. Later, Ansu Fati was subbed in, and Griezmann shifted on the Right Wing. Hence, Valverde proved that he is a joke when it comes to managing players.
Barcelona vs Celta Vigo:
Next up was Celta Vigo in La Liga. This was another home fixture and another poor performance from us. Yes, Barcelona won 4-1. However, this was a lucky win. We failed to get going in the match. None of our players sparked except Messi.
Messi scored a penalty, and 2 amazing freekicks to claim the match ball. However, even Messi was poor when it came to handling the game. He was nowhere near his best. None of our players were in any good form. Our luck continued in this game, and we ended up winning it. The important thing to note is that 3 out of 4 goals were from set-pieces. We managed only 1 goal from open play and that too from Busquets who rarely gets any goal.
FC Cartagena vs Barcelona:
Barcelona went away to play a friendly encounter against FC Cartagena. Gerrard Pique and Dembele were the only first-choice players in the starting lineup, the rest of the players were form Barca B team. Barcelona won the game easily with a 0-2 scoreline. This game reflected positivity for us in terms of young talent and our future.
The young defenders also participated actively in this game, and therefore, gave us a hope that our defensive problems can be solved sooner than we think and that too from our youth ranks. Some players also showed that they are good enough to play with the senior squad.
Some of the players were heads and shoulders above the rest of the squad. Puig was probably the best performer in the game. He was present everywhere. He controlled the game and dominated the opposition. On the other hand, Saverio had a great outing too. His physical abilities were spot on. Meanwhile, his passing and crossing sense looked to be really good as well. He wasn’t shy to take defenders one v one. Therefore, an amazing performance from him as well.
Leganes vs Barcelona:
Our last La Liga game of the month was against Leganes away from home. Leganes, a team at the bottom of the table dominated us. Barcelona won another match purely because of luck. Otherwise, we were completely dominated by the opposition.
Messi, Suarez, Griezmann, and Dembele started this game courtesy of a really confusing and messed up formation by Ernesto Valverde. Still, we failed to play attacking football. What else is remaining to say? We won every other game due to luck. The game against Cartagena and Dortmund being the only exception. This is a sign of major worry for us. Luck doesn’t work every time.
Barcelona vs Dortmund:
Our last outing of the month was a Champions League clash against Dortmund. Barcelona won the game convincingly with a 3-1 scoreline. What a game, I must say. The only good game we played in the entire month of November. Barcelona hosted Dortmund for a Champions League clash at their home and gave them a good beating.
We witnessed another Messi masterclass in this fixture. Messi scored one goal and assisted 2 goals. The other two goal scorers were Suarez and Antoine Griezmann. I am also really happy that Griezmann finally scored a goal as well.
Dortmund did dominate us in the last 10 15 minutes where Sancho was able to score a goal. Still, it wasn’t enough for a comeback, and we won the game convincingly.
Well, that’s all for the Barcelona Full Month Review of November. As mentioned at the very start that November has been really lucky for us. Result wise it has been really good. We are still on top of the La Liga Table and Champions League Group Table. However, if you consider our performances, this month was really poor. Anyway, let us know your thoughts about this November Review of FC Barcelona. Until the next time, Visca El Barca!
