Welcome back to TalkBarca. Today, we are here with the Full Month Preview of January for FC Barcelona. First of all, I would like to wish all our viewers a very happy new year. We hope to keep coming up with great content for you guys to read and we hope to keep excelling at what we are doing.
Coming back to our topic, January is a really busy month for FC Barcelona. Barca is competing in 3 different competitions and has to play 4 games this month. This can also increase up to 5 games which we are going to discuss later. Furthermore, we are currently at the top of the table with 2 more points than Real Madrid who are on 2nd. The La Liga title race is on, and the competition is tougher than ever. We need to be really consistent and must look to increase our winning streak.
I always say that momentum is a huge thing in football. It is the momentum that helps you achieve your goals. We talked about Liverpool FC few days back, and I would like to quote that reference again. If we take a look at Liverpool, we can clearly see that they are not doing so well in defense despite having World Class Defenders such as Van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold. They do concede a lot of goals and even conceded against smaller teams. However, it is their momentum which has brought them to be the Premier League favorites.
Liverpool is cruising with a winning momentum, and despite conceding goals, they manage to find ways of making a comeback. They are simply outscoring their opponents with direct football. Therefore, we must grab onto the momentum we have created, and not let it get loose. So, without any further delay, let’s start the Full Month Preview of January and take a look at the upcoming fixtures of FC Barcelona.
BARCELONA JANUARY PREVIEW
As we discussed earlier, we have 4 confirmed fixtures including 3 La Liga games and 1 Super Copa De Espana Game. We are going to face Atletico Madrid in Super Copa Semifinals. If we manage to win against Atletico, we will progress to the Super Copa Final where we will face Real Madrid or Valencia.
We have 1 home and 2 away La Liga Fixtures in January. We will play against Granada on our home while our away game will be against Espanyol and Valencia. The remaining 1 or 2 games in Super Copa De Espana are on neutral grounds in Saudi Arabia. For the month of January, we will represent a Mini Match Preview of each match here so that you can get an idea of our opponents.
Espanyol vs Barcelona
We are kicking off the month with an away fixture in La Liga against Espanyol. It’s a local derby and this fixture is surely not going to be easy. Barcelona must go into this fixture with a solid heart and great intensity. Furthermore, Barcelona needs to be really careful with their tactics because Espanyol is not an easy opponent. They always tend to raise their level against us.
It is true that they are currently at the bottom of the La Liga table. However, this does not change the fact that they are capable of giving us a hard time. Despite their bad performance in La Liga, they have qualified to the Europa League Round of 16. Believe me, they are surely going to put in their utmost efforts to stop us from getting 3 points. We are already struggling big time to perform well away from our home. Therefore, this is a huge challenge for us right at the start of the month. We must go into this fixture with courage, and destroy Espanyol.
Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid:
We are then going to take a break from La Liga action and travel to Saudia Arabia for Super Copa De Espana. This tournament usually takes place on the premises of Spain. However, now they have changed the venue to Saudia. We are going to face Atletico Madrid in what is a Semi-Final for the Super Copa De Espana. This match is going to take place in Jeddah, and is surely an exciting fixture.
Atletico-Barca is always a great game to watch, and I really want us to fight for this trophy. It is actually interesting to see if the players are going to put it all on the line for a minor trophy. Well, they should because a trophy is a trophy no matter what. When we play for a club’s badge, we don’t focus on whether we are playing Champions League or Copa Del Rey. We have to fight, and I really hope that Barca fights for this one.
Super Copa De Espana Final:
Next up is the Super Spanish Cup Final. If we somehow beat Atletico Madrid, we are most likely to experience an El Classico in the Super Copa De Espana. This is because the second Semi-final is between Real Madrid and Valencia. Real Madrid are clearly the favorites to win the game and qualify for the Finals.
Therefore, it’s going to be an exciting tournament. We have a chance of beating Atletico Madrid. However, both of our fixtures are really really tough. Therefore, we must step into these games with the right mentality, and heart of a lion.
Barcelona vs Granada
Barcelona is then going to return to La Liga action by welcoming Granada to the Camp Nou. We have already played against Granda in their home earlier this season where we lost with a 2-0 scoreline. This shows that Granda can be a dangerous opponent. Since then, Granada has lost form and is now in 11th place on the points table.
However, this does not change the fact that they do have quality in their lineup and they can trouble us anytime. So, we must not take this game lightly and attack with full force. We should be seeking revenge for the reverse fixture and get back our pride.
Valencia vs Barcelona:
Our last game of the month is against Valencia in La Liga. Valencia is a really tough team to face and they certainly have the tools to hurt us really badly. Therefore, we must be very cautious in this fixture. We have to win this fixture and attack them right from the start.
Valencia is currently at 8th on the points table but they have certainly gained their form after a poor start of the season. Furthermore, their schedule is not as hectic as ours. Barcelona is dealing with a lot of pressure and have a tight schedule this month. We have 5 games within 21 days, which is an average of more than 1 game per 4 days. Obviously, there is a lot behind playing a match. Traveling, resting, training, and team talks are a few major things before any game. Therefore, we must organize ourselves for the tough month ahead.
