Welcome to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is the December Preview of FC Barcelona. Barcelona was able to win 4 out of 6 games in the month of November. To see our November Review, click here. Just like the previous month, Barca has 6 tough fixtures lying ahead in the month of December, 5 in La Liga and 1 in Champions League.
We have 3 home games, and 3 away games. Home games include fixtures against Mallorca, Real Madrid, and Alaves. On the other side, away fixtures are against Atletico, Inter Milan, and Real Sociedad. So, for the month of December, we are going to present Mini Match Preview for each game one by one and see how crucial this month can be for Barcelona.
Valverde also has a crucial role this month. As the manager, he has a major impact on every game. However, this month is really crucial. Therefore, he must not experiment with new things and must take every game seriously. Valverde has to start with the right players, on their rightful positions. Otherwise, I expect Barcelona to drop down from the top position.
FC BARCELONA DECEMBER PREVIEW
Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona:
Barcelona is going to travel away to Wanda Metropolitano stadium to face a tough side of Atletico Madrid. This is one of the most important fixtures of this month. Barcelona must win this in order to remain at the top of the La Liga table.
Winning La Liga is very important for our team. Therefore, winning crucial fixtures like this is extremely important. Talking about Atletico Madrid, they are also not in the best of their forms. Still, they are a very dominating side and can put a solid impact on any game. Therefore, we must take advantage of their weaknesses, and attack them. I expect end-to-end stuff in this game with both sides attacking mentality.
Barcelona vs RCD Mallorca:
Mallorca is on 17th place in the points table. This still won’t be an easy game especially considering our performance against Leganes last month. However, this must be a piece of cake for us. We have to move into this game with good confidence and the right tactics.
Barcelona must take advantage of playing at home and must dominate Mallorca. The game kicks off at 9:00 PM as per local time on Sunday 8th December.
Inter Milan vs Barcelona:
3 days after the clash against Mallorca, we have to face the tough side of Inter Milan away in the Champions League. This is going to be a really tough game. Inter is going to come hard at us. They want 3 points in order to confirm their qualification to the Round of 16 of Champions League.
Inter also have the home advantage, and they know how to get the most out of Barcelona’s weakness playing away from home. Therefore, we must take this fixture seriously. As mentioned above, Valverde has to be sensible in this game with the formation and tactics he chooses. Valverde’s role in every fixture is going to be crucial.
We just have to wait and see what happens. Obviously, as a Barcelona fan, I pray that we win. However, it is going to be really very difficult. Pulling off a win against Inter at their home and that too when they are hungry for points is going to be an uphill task.
We have to note that even if we lose against Inter, we are guaranteed to finish at the top of the Champions League group. Therefore, we may see lack of motivation and desire from Barca players. Furthermore, we may see some rotations in the lineup to rest some key players so that they are ready for El Classico.
Real Sociedad vs Barcelona:
We have another away fixture against Real Sociedad on Saturday, 14th Dec 4:00 PM as per local time. This is another tough fixture. Real Sociedad are in the top four, and they are eager to finish the season in the Champions League Qualifier Spot. We have El Classico right after this fixture and we may see players like Gerard Pique reserving their strength for the big game. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad will try their best to exploit our conservative and half focused defense. This is something we have to prevent from happening.
Barcelona must play on their strengths, and should aim to dominate the opposition. Sociedad is a tough team, but, if we really maintain possession, and dominate with passing, the entire team will be flat-footed. Therefore, Barcelona must look to win this game, and win with dominance. The more matches we are going to win, the better our chances are going to be to win the La Liga.
Barcelona vs Real Madrid:
This is the most important fixture out of all. This is the game the entire world waits to watch. People from around the globe leave everything to watch this game. It’s is the biggest rivalry out of all the rivalries. This is the EL Clasico. The best thing about this Clasico is that it is at the Camp Nou. We have the home advantage, and we must take full benefit of it.
However, Real is not going to be easy even when playing away. Real Madrid is in really fine form. They are dominating every team week in week out. Furthermore, they are also heavily competing with us for the top spot in La Liga. One thing is for sure that if Real manages to get on the top spot, it is going to be really hard to reclaim that place.
Therefore, this is a must-win game for us. The fans demand 3 points from this game by hook or by crook. I really hope that Valverde takes this game seriously, and tries not to do anything stupid. Valverde is going to have a major role in this encounter. His choices, the rotations, and his game plan are heavily going to impact this game. Nevertheless, I have said my word, and I speak on behalf of all Barca fans worldwide. On the night of 19th December, 8:00 pm local time, the boys in Blaugrana colors have only one job to do and that is to win the El Clasico.
Barcelona vs Alaves:
Our last game of the month is against Alaves. Alaves is at 14th place on the points table, and considering the points table, Barcelona can win this easily. However, Barcelona cannot take this game lightly as even small games can create a big impact in a title chase. Every game is crucial for us, and we must try our best to win it. Barcelona vs Alaves is will be kicking off on 21st Dec 4:00 PM as per local time.
I think Barcelona have the potential to win all the games this month. El Clasico is the most important game and then comes the fixtures against Atletico. Overall this month is not easy for us, maybe, it’s the toughest of all. We must be mentally strong, and well prepared.
Anyways, guys, this is it for the December Preview of Barcelona. What are your thoughts on our Preview of December? Do you think we have what it takes to win all the fixtures? Let us know your feedback in the comments below. Until next time, Visca El Barca!
