Welcome back to TalkBarca. Our topic for today is Celta Vigo vs Barcelona Match Preview. Another tough fixture is lined up and waiting for Barcelona. Barca is going to travel away to face a difficult side of Celta who are most likely to trouble us just like Athletic Club did. Furthermore, Barcelona is already having some issues such as the Transfer deal of Arthur Melo. Nothing is confirmed at the moment about Arthur staying or leaving. There are mixed opinions about it, and we have been collecting facts lately. Stay tuned for that article. It is going to come in a few days.
Let’s just talk about the upcoming fixture for now. Barcelona is struggling with a lot of stuff lately, and scoring goals is one of them. We are not currently the best-attacking team in La Liga, and this is going to come at us sooner or later. We won our previous fixture 1-0 and I think Barcelona was lucky to score that goal. Yes, I give all the credits to my team for converting a chance at a crucial stage in the game. I also take nothing away from Ivan Rakitic for finishing it perfectly and playing flawlessly overall.
However, we have to criticize our team positively as well. We always have to look at what is good about us, and what is not going our way. Then, we have to pretty much ignore the good factors and focus a lot on our weaknesses. Therefore, we can become a dominant football team in Europe once again. It is sad for me to admit that Barcelona is no longer looked upon as that destructive army, and now even smaller teams take us lightly. This is because we have not paid much attention to our weaknesses.
CELTA VIGO VS BARCELONA MATCH PREVIEW
Celta Vigo does not seem strong on paper. This is because they are at 16th place on the points table with 33 points. On the other hand, Barcelona is in 2nd place with 68 points. Our dearest rivals, Real Madrid is on the top courtesy of our draw with Sevilla. They have 68 points as well. Therefore, every game is a must-win for us, and we can take nothing lightly. Let us consider Celta Vigo’s recent form. Celta has not been poor in their previous 5 fixtures. They showed improvements.
They drew 2 games, won 2 and lost 1. This shows that they are in a pretty good form, and it is most likely that they are going to trouble Barcelona. Therefore, we must be prepared. Quique Setien must make the right choices. He must be wise in choosing players to start and must make the correct rotations. I mentioned in my previous article that Puig and Fati deserves a starting spot in the lineup. However, I am going to get to that part later. For now, Celta is my major focus. They are used to performing well at home.
Kickoff timing for this fixture is 5pm local time. This means that this game is going to be played closer to the day. It is going to be hot, and therefore, it is a physical challenge for the players. I keep on saying this in my articles lately, and I am going to keep repeating. Cooling breaks must be used wisely. The weather in Spain is already pretty hot, and Celta is going to make sure that our players stay on their toes all the time. Therefore, playing in these conditions is physically and mentally tough.
Kickoff timings in Pakistan and India are 8pm and 8:30pm respectively. This is one of those games where our Asian fans can enjoy watching their team play without sacrificing their sleep. The previous games of Barcelona were kicked off at 1am, and fans had to stay up till dawn to watch the entire game. However, it is going to be different this time around. I hope our players perform in such a way that the fans stay motivated to watch their team, and support them no matter how much sleep they have to sacrifice. Let’s talk about the Lineup.
CELTA VIGO VS BARCELONA EXPECTED LINEUP
Ter Stegen is most likely going to start in goal. Ter kept yet another clean sheet against Athletic Club in our previous fixture. I would also like to mention the fact that Ter Stegen’s clean sheets are not solely because of good defensive performances. Yes, we did indeed improve defensively. However, there were some moments in almost all the games we played recently that Barca left major spaces which lead to dangerous attacks. However, Ter Stegen makes sure that he is there to save his team the majority of the time.
I mentioned above that we have been good defensively. I have seen major improvements in our defense, especially after the lockdown. We do not have much rotation choices in our defense as well. Therefore, I expect Gerrard Pique, and Lenglet to start as Center Backs. Jordi Alba is going to be the Left Back, and Semedo is going to start as the Right Back. I think Nelson Semedo deserves similar credit to Puig, and Fati because he is another youngster in our club. Furthermore, he is superbly solid in defense and is turning himself into a world-class fullback gradually.
I cannot say that I expect this. However, I want Quique to start with Rakitic, Sergio Busquests, and Puig in the midfield. I think this midfield trio can do wonders for us if it clicks. All 3 of these players have proven to be our best midfielders in previous fixtures, and I think it is time that we test their combination. Furthermore, it is always a different scenario during the starting stages of the game as compared to the final minutes. Therefore, we are going to see what can Puig offer when he is used earlier in the first half.
Furthermore, we are also going to see if Puig can carry the midfield from the start to the end of the game or not. However, likely, he is not going to play the entire game. Vidal is going to come on at some point. Arthur might be used as well because he is still an FC Barcelona player, and our board is focused on helping him regain his confidence. It is going to be interesting about what midfield does Quique Setien choose for this particular fixture. I just hope that he makes the right choices.
Wingers and Striker:
There is not much to talk about this. I think Ansu Fati, Suarez, and Messi are going to start upfront. However, I think Griezmann deserves a starting role ahead of Suarez because he was better in the previous game. However, Ansu Fati needs to start for sure.
The final verdict from my side is that Barcelona is going to win this game 0-2 or 1-2. I expect my attackers to improve, and all players to overcome their mistakes.
